In 2000, Hans Balmer started the Spot of Pride program that we still enjoy today. Hans had the passion and vision to add natural beauty to the medians and greenspaces near major roadways throughout Spartanburg County.

Over the past 20 years, the program has grown with support from both the private and public sectors. Now, there are 81 Spots of Pride. These sites are maintained through sponsor support.

Sponsorship ranges in amount from $600 - $1,800, depending on the site. The amount includes design, irrigation, plantings, and site maintenance. And is tax deductible. Anyone (groups or individuals) can sponsor a site.

If you can't monetarily sponsor a site, but want to support this program. We can always use volunteers to help with maintenance.
